MR. WING

MR. WING

幸運兒

The chairman had always been a winner, even from a young age he’d had it all and been the best. He was extremely smart, the go-to guy for everything who’d never let you down. He was capable, handsome and his parents were refined, open-minded people. He had a beautiful, virtuous wife and bright, adorable children. Many strived their entire lives in pursuit of this dream which had come to him so easily. Everyone liked him, and everything about him evoked envy in others, but one day he suddenly received a mysterious gift which made it even more unbearable.…

Jimmy Liao’s second picture book after The Sound of Color, the poetic Mr. Wing was inspired by his 1999 work A Fish that Smiled at Me. As he’d previously drawn a smiling fish, he thought why not also draw a sorrowful bird? Mr. Wing is a story about both fortune and grief, but in the end who’s really the winner? Is it Jimmy? Or you and I? This compassionate fairy tale is dedicated to those who always seem to be lucky in life.
